Lock

To Start using this Application you will first need to ADD or PAIR a Smart-Tala with your Phone / Account. You will become the Administrator of any Smart-Tala(s) you ADD and once it has been Paired to your Accout the Smart-Tala cannot be Paired by anyone else, UNLESS, you DELETE the Lock using this Application from your Phone / Account.

You can use this Application to Manage Access to your property using the Smart-Tala. You will notice extensive Features and Settings which will enable you to Smartly Manage your Lock. Some of the Main Features are:

  1. E-Key Management.
  2. Passcode Management.
  3. Fingerprint Management, IC Card Management.
  4. View "Unlock" History.
  5. Delete eKeys, Passcodes, Fingerprints, IC cards.

To ADD / PAIR a new Lock please follow the steps below:

  1. ACTIVATE the Smart-Tala by pressing any key on the Keypad.
  2. On your Application you will SEE a + Sign on the ADD LOCK Interface. (This sign is visible for 5 - 10 seconds only, so you will need to be quick or repeat the above step)
  3. Press the + Sign to ADD the Lock.

Note: If you dont see the + Sign then that Lock has already been PAIRED to another Phone / Account and cannot be PAIRED to your Phone. You will need to get the previous Owner to TRANSFER the Lock to your Account or DELETE the Lock from his Account. Also, remember your Phone needs to be connected to the Internet (3G/4G/WiFi) when Adding / Pairing a new Lock.

Below are some possible reasons If you are unable to ADD or PAIR a Lock:

  1. The Lock is not nearby or "Active".
  2. The Lock is not within 1 meter of the phone or the Bluetooth is turned OFF on your Phone.
  3. The Lock is PAIRED to another Phone / Account.
  4. Please ask the previous Owner to DELETE the Lock from his Phone / Account using the Application.
  5. You may have used an incorrect method to "Activate" the Smart-Tala
  6. Some of the earlier Locks cannot be ADDED or PAIRED by just Activating the Lock using the Keypad. On those Locks you will need to REMOVE a Battery and RE-INSERT it and PRESS the # Key until you hear 2 sounds "DiDI". Once you hear this sound you will see the + Sign to ADD / PAIR the Lock.

Below are the Main Methods used to Operate the Smart-Tala:

  1. Unlock directly using your Phone. (Requires Bluetooth)
  2. The Owner can ISSUE and SEND an eKey (TIMED, ONE TIME, CYCLIC or PERMANENT) to another Registered User who can use it to OPERATE the Lock using his Phone (via Bluetooth). An eKey can be Frozen or Thawed Remotely in Real Time by the Owner.
  3. Unlock using Passcodes. (Passcodes can be Issued REMOTELY from Anywhere in the World)
  4. There are many Types of Passcodes:

    • PERMANENT: This type of Passcode will work Indefinately - 24x7 until DELETED. Usually issued for Permanent Employees in an Office or Family members at Home.
    • TIMED: This type of Passcode is used for Visitors, Guests etc (Airbnb, Stayz, Hosted Accomodation..).
      The VALIDITY of the Passcode is configured using a START DATE and TIME and an END DATE and TIME.
      The Longest Period that can be configured is 3 Years.
    • ONE TIME: As the name suggests, this type of Passcode can ONLY be used ONCE. It can be used for a One Time Emergency Access, a Scheduled Delivery or Access for a Trades Person etc..
      It is automatically DELETED once used.
    • CYCLIC: This type of Passcode is used when a PATTERNED RECURRING Access needs to be Granted (eg.. Baby Sitter, Dog Walker, Room Cleaners etc).
      The VALIDITY of the Passcode is configured by specifying Day(s) of the Week accompanied with a START TIME / END TIME.

  5. Unlock using Fingerprint
    Fingerprint(s) need to be configured on the Smart-Tala before being used.
    Fingerprints can also be TIMED (refer above in Passcodes) or PERMANENT in nature.
  6. Unlock using IC Card
    IC Cards(s) need to be configured on the Smart-Tala before being used.
    IC Cards can also be TIMED (refer above in Passcodes) or PERMANENT in nature.
The Application will automatically Adjust the internal Clock of the Smart-Tala when it is operated using a Phone which is connected to 3G/4G/WiFi.
Keypad
This is done for Security reasons. When an Incorrect Passcode is used consecutively for 5 times, the Keypad is DE-ACTIVATED or LOCKED OUT for 5 minutes. To RE-ENABLE the Keypad immediately, operate the Smart-Tala using your Phone (via Bluetooth).
Intermittent Flashing of the Keypad when entering a Passcode indicates a LOW BATTERY Warning. Please Replace the Batteries immediately.
The Batteries may have run out. Please Replace the Batteries.
Passcode
A PERMANENT Passcode is valid Indefinately. A TIMED Passcode can have a maximum Validity of 3 years.
It depends on the Time Zone of the User's Phone. The Time Zone is automatically transferred to the Smart-Tala.
Some early generation Smart-Tala(s) do not have the Time functionality. On those Smart-Tala only the PERIOD can be configured.

This may be due to one or more of the following reasons:

  1. The Passcode has been DELETED.
  2. The Passcode was not used within 24 hours of it being ACTIVE (from the START DATE and TIME).
  3. The Passcode's Validity is still in the Future, or the Passcode has EXPIRED.
  4. The Time on the Smart-Tala is SLOW or BEHIND the CURRENT Time.
APP

This can be due to one or more of the following reasons:

  1. Your eKey has been FROZEN or DELETED.
  2. Your eKey has EXPIRED.
  3. The Bluetooth on your Phone is Turned OFF or don’t work.
  4. To Enable the Bluetooth please CLOSE the Application, Turn ON the Bluetooth and RE-OPEN the Application.

Others
A GATEWAY is conneted to your WiFi Network and acts as a BRIDGE between the Internet and the Smart-Tala. It is used for Remotely Managing Specific Functions. (eg.. DELETE a Passcode)
